Hudson Valley, NY (January 2012) – Hudson Valley Tourism, Inc. has developed a mobile phone app for visitors and residents to connect them with the information they need on destinations, hotels, restaurants, events, and more. The app is easily accessible for all Internet ready smartphones such as iPhones and iPod Touch, and is live in iTunes. It’s also accessible through a QR code. The new mobile site, http://travelhv.mobi, has advanced features such as GPS location tracking, integrated mapping, itinerary planning, social media tracking and “Share My Trip” with Twitter, Facebook and Flickr, augmented reality, events calendar, thematic listings, “what’s nearby”, search, and more.
Mary Kay Vrba, president of Hudson Valley Tourism, said, “The app is like an information center in the palm of your hand. No matter where visitors are located, they can find up-to-the minute information on our destinations at any time of the day.”
Always looking to expand promotions for the Hudson Valley, the group was well aware that apps were being used in the area even before the development of their own. With its ever increasing tourism product, the regional organization determined that the app would help develop audiences that relied on the newer technology as a major resource. Hudson Valley Tourism will promote the app through print and web advertising and in the region’s brochures.
