Walkway Over the Hudson opens elevator, free electric tram and pavilions on March 25

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. — The Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park’s elevator, free electric tram and merchandise and information pavilions open for the season on March 25.

The 11-passenger electric tram allows those with limited mobility to enjoy the bridge. The tram operates Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and runs on a continuous loop. A complete one-way trip takes approximately 30 minutes.

Reservations are not required.

The Walkway’s elevator at Upper Landing Park in Poughkeepsie, linking the Walkway with Poughkeepsie’s waterfront, will operate daily weather permitting from 9 a.m. until 90 minutes prior to the park’s closure. Call (845) 834-3641 to check the elevator status.

Staffed by volunteers, the merchandise and information pavilions at the East Gate Plaza in Poughkeepsie and adjacent to the west gate in Highland will be open Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. through April 9, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. after that.
