Summer happenings are back in the Hudson Valley, and local fireworks are ready to light up the night sky.
Independence Day brings a slew of patriotic events to the region. Live performances from local musicians, craft food and beverage vendors, and good old-fashioned baseball accompany Fourth of July celebrations. Plus, catch extra colorful explosions throughout the warm-weather season. Here’s where to watch the sparkling festivities around the region.

New York State's Fourth of July Celebration
Empire State Plaza, Albany
July 4, 5–10 p.m.
Independence Day celebrations return to the iconic Empire State Plaza. Head to New York’s capital for live music by the “Queen of Percussion” Sheila E., with a performance by Jocelyn & Chris. There will also be food vendors galore and—of course—vibrant fireworks illuminating the night sky. Sip craft beverages from some of the Hudson Valley’s finest producers while enjoying one of the biggest firework displays in the region.

As part of the Town of East Fishkill’s Summer Concert Series, a fireworks night starts Fourth of July weekend with a bang in Dutchess County. Adam & The Newhearts present rock-and-roll classics from the ’50s and ’60s for the community, while fireworks add to the evening’s festivities.

Catch fireworks at eye level at this Walkway Over the Hudson viewing party. Attendees who purchase tickets can spot the sparklers from 212 feet above the Hudson River, guaranteeing an unforgettable Fourth of July celebration. Tickets cost $25 per person or $20 for Walkway members, veterans, and seniors. Children 12 and under can attend for free but must be registered for a ticket in advance online.

The to-do includes fun activities like balloon twisting, pie-eating contests, tug-of-war games, and live music. There will be barbecue and drinks aplenty, with fireworks lighting up the sky at 9 p.m. Tickets cost $30 per person for hotel guests and $15 for kids 12 and under or $55 per person for outside guests and $20 for kids.

Tannersville’s annual fireworks show is an event with fun for the whole family. Be sure to bring a comfy chair and blanket to watch the big event under the stars.
Cairo’s 4th of July Celebration at the Park

Celebrate Independence Day with a (literal) bang and join Cairo for an evening of celebration. Angelo Canna Park is a wonderful Catskills destination for open-air entertainment. Bring snacks or chow down on fresh fare from Hudson Valley vendors. Check out craft artisans and live music, then settle down for the fireworks at dusk.
Windham’s Good Old Fashion 4th of July Celebration

In keeping with its annual tradition, the Town of Windham hosts a grand Independence Day celebration. The Greene County parade steps off at 7 p.m. from Route 296 to Main Street. Fireworks go off at Windham Mountain at dusk, so pack a blanket and bring the family for a night of good fun.

Food trucks and fireworks? You’ll find both in abundance at this Port Jervis to-do. Stop by to sample bites from foodie favorites like Roadhouse Rolling Bar, Porky’s Fate, Funnel Cakes, Chick Magnet, and Dave’s Devil Dogs, to name only a few. Bands like The Robert Telefson Band and Hudson Valley Jazz Quartet bring music to the shindig, and fireworks sparkle across the sky in the evening.

Cornwall’s annual festivities are back in full swing this year with a parade through the center of town. This event has it all—from an artisan craft fair to live music to a Duck Derby—for a full-day celebration. Community members and families will be able to turn their cars into their very own parade floats and be in the center of the action! The parade starts at 5 p.m. on Main Street, with fireworks sparkling after dark at Rings Pond.

Independence Day fireworks all weekend long? Count us in. Mohonk Mountain House is one of the most recognizable and iconic destinations in the entire Hudson Valley. Guests of this four-season resort are treated to a weekend of festivities. Leading up to the big event, Mohonk hosts tomahawk throwing, live music, campfire s’mores, archery, and hiking. On Independence Day proper, hotel guests can look forward to a parade, carnival, and water show. In the evening, Legion Fireworks puts together a show that casts color and light over the mountains.

July 4, 10 a.m.
Saugerties goes big for Fourth of July. The full-day event starts with a parade organized by the Saugerties Fire Department, which lines up at 10 a.m. and steps off at 11 a.m. sharp. At night, fireworks sparkle throughout the sky beginning at 10 p.m.
Westchester County
July 4th Celebration at Pierson Park

July 4, 6-10 p.m.
Tarrytown hosts a fun-filled evening to celebrate Independence Day. The hoopla kicks off at 5 p.m. with food trucks like Cousin’s Maine Lobster and Westchester Burger Co., then segues into fun time for kids, who can take advantage of face painting, glitter tattoos, and a bouncy castle. After live music from KickStart Charlie at 7:30 p.m., fireworks commence once darkness falls.
