Staatsburgh’s owners, Ruth and Ogden Mills, had tickets to sail on the R.M.S. Titanic’s scheduled second trip. This April, to mark the 112th anniversary of the Titanic’s infamous maiden voyage, Staatsburgh State Historic Site is offering its ever-popular “Tales of the Titanic” theme tour of the mansion. This 90-minute tour, led by a costumed guide, explores the mansion while offering tales of bravery and tragedy. Staatsburgh’s opulent interiors bear a striking resemblance to the first-class accommodations on the ship. The liner was designed to mirror the luxury that the millionaires were accustomed to in their lavish homes.
