The Poughkeepsie Regatta
October 5 @ 7:30 am - 10:30 am
The Mid-Hudson Rowing Association and the Hudson River Rowing Association present the Poughkeepsie Regatta, a three-mile rowing race on the Hudson River. Races run between the Culinary Institute of America campus in Hyde Park and the Mid-Hudson Bridge in Poughkeepsie. This course was used for the historic Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) Regatta from 1895 to 1949.
Crews from New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut will compete in Junior, Collegiate, and Masters events. There will be three types of boat racing: Fours (four people with four oars and a coxswain), Eights (eight people with eight oars and a coxswain), and Quads (four people with eight oars).
Spectators can watch the races from Poughkeepsie at Quiet Cove Park, Waryas Park, and Kaal Rock Park. For the best views, walk out onto The Walkway Over the Hudson, from which the start will be visible to the north and the finish to the south.
